Natural geographic factors affecting the production of drinking water in Aswan city

Abstract

The city of Aswan is located at the confluence of latitude 24'2°N, and longitude 52'32°E. It is located on the eastern bank of the Nile River. The city of Aswan is bordered to the east by the Red Sea Governorate.

- The topography of the city of Aswan is unique in distinction, as it is a flat land of ancient sediments of the flood of the Nile River, and the level of the city of Aswan ranges from about 100 m - 140 m. The city of Aswan resembles a triangle in its shape, where the base is along the Nile River and its sides meet in the east. The per capita share of drinking water in the city of Aswan is very good, as it exceeds the per capita share recommended by the Egyptian code, which amounts to (109-140%) of the recommended (Environmental Characterization of Aswan Governorate, 2003, p. 10), since in 2020 it reached The per capita share is 220 liters / day (information from the Holding Company for Drinking Water and Wastewater in Aswan).

It is noted that the production increased in the summer season for the quantities of water produced at the Taqouq Mountain station in Aswan, to reach 28.5% of the total amount of water produced.
