Abstract

At a time when it has become social media or new or alternative media in view of its multi-dimensional political, cultural and social role, it remains at the same time a carrier or promoter of one of the sources of threat to the national security of states and societies, in light of some resorting to employing it in a bad way. Spreading malicious rumors and lies. Although the rumor is not considered a modern phenomenon in our contemporary world, as it has been associated with the development of societies and states throughout the ages, it has become in our time one of the most dangerous weapons that threaten societies in their values and symbols, to the extent that there are those who believe that its danger may sometimes outweigh the tools force that is used in political conflicts between states; Rather, some countries use it as a lethal weapon that has a great effect in the moral or psychological wars that precede the movement of the military machine, and its danger does not stop at this point only, but rather it has enormous economic and societal repercussions, especially in light of the information and technology revolution.
