It seems that attitudes and reactions towards children with disabilities in Roman society moved up and down the axis of pity, ridicule, or dread according to different attitudes, which makes us have to draw broad lines that stem from different abilities, types, and social classes. Since many people with disabilities have escaped the tests of their first parents or midwives; In the case of blind children or those with hearing impairment., the disability is not discovered until a certain period passed, and the same is true for certain forms of mental retardation. Literary evidence can be used as it can reveal more about daily life than ancient historians believed. Descriptions of the daily life of people with disabilities were extremely rare in antiquity. It is noticeable that a large number of children born with a disability did not live for several days, not only because of the widespread practice of abandonment or infanticide, but also because of the survival rate among them.
