Abstract

The research deals with the experience of unity between Egypt and Yemen from 1958 AD to 1961 AD, where the research explains the rationale for unity between the two countries, who initiated the request for unity, the reasons for Yemen's request for this unity, and its positive and negative effects on Egypt and Yemen. Which has been activated, and what items have not been done, as the research deals with that this union, although legally complete, but it did not actually do; The reason is Yemen's lack of seriousness in the existence of a union between the two states. The research also explains the reasons for the short duration of the union's life, the reasons that led to the termination of this union, and the impact of its termination on the Egyptian-Yemeni relations.

The Egyptian-Yemeni union was based on the desire of Imam Ahmed, who sent his crown prince, the Badd Prince, to Damascus to meet Jamal Abdel Nasser, carrying with him a telegram from the imam. He informed him of Imam Ahmed’s desire to join the United Arab Republic, where the union was signed in March 1958 between Jamal Abdel Nasser and Prince Muhammad al-Badr as a representative. On the authority of his father, with each country retaining its international personality and its own system of government, while assuming the political and consular representation of the Union abroad as one body in the cases decided by the Union and they have an army Unified federal, and one economic policy.
