Abstract

Throughout the history of the ancient Egyptian language, some terms appeared and developed in their forms, meanings, and verbal connotations. In time, these words were replaced by other words that were either new or taken from neighboring languages and cultures. For intellectuals and the public, these words merged with ancient expressions to express different linguistic styles. Diminutives are among these terms. Research focuses on the diminutive and words that express this concept in ancient Egyptian, whether authentic or not. Such as: ؛ piT، fiT، nx، nDs، xn ، Sr، Sri، kt، ktt، sxra، SAfi، TrH، THr، TnrH. Moreover, the various ways ancient Egyptians used to express diminutive in different texts, It includes reducing size and quantity, expressing contempt, endearment, etc. Instead of attaching specific endings to nouns as is the case in Arabic, the ancient Egyptians used description to clarify diminution. By extracting implicit meanings from diminutives, this study examines how they reflect the cultures of intellectuals and commoners in ancient Egypt.
