Abstract

Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah enjoyed a high position among the scholars of his time. He was abundant in knowledge and extensive knowledge, and his writings bear witness to that. In this research, we will shed light on his life in terms of identifying his name, lineage, surname, nickname, birth, upbringing, and some of his sheikhs and students. The scholars praised him and his works, then his death.

In this research, we also talk about the definition of grammatical principles, and then we are exposed to hearing them from Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah through application to examples from his book “Irshad al-Salik ila Hal al-Alfiyyah Ibn Malik.”

Imam Ibn al-Qayyim took knowledge from the great scholars of his time. He studied with eminent scholars in jurisprudence, principles, Arabic, and other sciences, including Ibn Abi al-Fath al-Baali, from whom he learned Arabic, and to whom he read the Millennium and others, and among them Majd al-Din al-Tunisi, and many others.
