Abstract

The Arabic language - like other languages - is included in the scope of learning. Thus, it takes another approach that aims to complicate the learning process in order to establish its principles and rules. Therefore, many trends and theories arise in the field of language education in general.

Contrastive analysis paves the way for the learner to identify the similar elements between his mother tongue and the language to be learned. At the beginner level for an English-speaking Arabic language learner, for example, he starts from the letters of the alphabet, in which he finds some of the letter sounds similar to the sounds of English. This makes it easier for him to access the rest of the Arabic sounds. Being exposed to letter sounds that do not exist in his mother tongue, the teacher then begins to search for problems that did not enable the learner to correctly pronounce the sound he wanted to learn, and then begins to take the means that will enable him to treat his problems.

Contrastive analysis prepares in advance these linguistic phenomena between two or more languages at different linguistic levels by presenting the similarities and differences between the languages for which contrastive analysis is to be conducted. In doing so, it helps teachers and learners by providing them with what helps them learn the language in a practical way
