Abstract

The emergence of informal markets in the urban areas of Giza Governorate is closely linked to residential areas, especially popular areas, which are characterized by high population density and random urbanization, as is the case in the Boulaq al-Dakrur neighborhood, which is one of the most important neighborhoods in Giza Governorate and is a popular neighborhood in which unplanned urbanization is widespread. The study dealt with the weekly Tuesday market in the neighborhood. Bulaq Al-Dakrour, Giza Governorate. The study included five main elements, preceded by an introduction that highlighted their importance and the reasons for choosing them, then the most important approaches and methods used in the study. The study relied mainly on field work.

The elements of the study were as follows: The first element dealt with the position, location, and spatial relationships of the market. In the second element, the study clarified the internal structure of the market. In the third and fourth elements, the characteristics of sellers and shoppers were studied. In the fifth element, the study monitored the theoretical and actual influence of the weekly Tuesday market. The sixth element: The study monitored the most important problems faced by vendors, shoppers, and residents of the study area.
