It dealt with the volume of consumption of food commodities, represented by grains and other agricultural products such as legumes, vegetables, and fruits, in addition to meat and fish, as well as knowledge of the food gap and the extent of its expansion, as well as the volume of food imports, represented by exports and imports, in which Libya depends on the oil industry and imports all food products.
Grains and livestock production constitute an important part of agricultural production in Libya and contribute to covering some consumer needs. Grains and meat are among the most consumable food commodities in Libya. The current situation of grain production and livestock production has not been able to be self-sufficient due to the continuous increase in population numbers and to confront the deficit. Libya is expected to import these products to meet its needs. The research will address the volume of consumption, the food gap, the volume of food imports, and then the dimensions of food security.
