Abstract

This research underscores the pivotal role of Arabic grammar in accurately understanding Quranic legislation, particularly concerning hudud (prescribed punishments) and qisas (retaliation). It argues that precise comprehension of Quranic verses is crucial for ensuring justice and upholding societal order.

The study provides concrete examples to illustrate the importance of Arabic grammar:

Firstly, it examines the interpretation of theft and its punishment, specifically addressing the conditions under which the cutting off hands is prescribed, as detailed in Quran 5:38. The research conducts a grammatical analysis of this verse to elucidate its legal implications.

Secondly, it explores a variant recitation of Quran 6:137 by Ibn 'Amir, highlighting grammatical nuances that affect its interpretation, especially regarding the actions of polytheists and their consequences.

Thirdly, the research analyzes the word "عُفِيَ" in Quran 2:280, discussing its various interpretations in the context of pardoning and restitution, presenting diverse scholarly viewpoints and their arguments.

Lastly, the study delves into scholarly debates concerning the testimony of a person who falsely accuses a chaste woman of adultery but later repents, examining differing opinions on the admissibility of such testimony.
