Visual identity in news bulletins in Arab and foreign satellite channels - a field study
This research aims to identify the methods of employing visual media in news bulletins on Arab and foreign satellite channels and their relationship to the evaluation of them by professional and academic elites, through an applied study. The study population included all workers in the editing rooms, management, production and direction of television channels, and academics in Arab universities specialized in Television, film and visual arts. The sample consisted of (144) respondents. The researcher used the descriptive analytical method and the questionnaire as a tool for the study.
The research concluded that the professional and academic elites’ assessment of the effectiveness of visual media in conveying the intended and desired messages and frameworks in news bulletins was high. The methods and types of employing visual media in news bulletins have a tangible impact on professional values in media work. It turned out that the differences between Arab and foreign channels in employing different visual media were to a high degree in favor of Arabic-speaking foreign channels from the point of view of the study sample members. The research recommended the need to conduct more research on the importance of television's visual identity, and on the role of visual media in building this identity.
