Abstract

The research deals with the dangers of weathering on the Edfu-Marsa Alam desert road. The weathering process is the process of breaking or disintegrating rocks on the surface of the earth due to rainwater, extreme temperatures, biological activity, etc. It does not include the process of removing rock materials and transporting them, and it differs from the erosion process. It expresses The process by which soil and rock particles are transported to another place, by wind, water, etc., and it differs from weathering, which does not include the transport process at all.

Then he discusses

Firstly, the causes and factors affecting the occurrence of weathering, such as 1- Type and composition of rocks 2- Climate 3- Topography.

Secondly, the types of weathering that occur on the road: 1- Gravels 2- Aged columns 3- Weathering pits 4- Boulders 5- Forms resulting from inter-tidal weathering 6- Condensed blocks 7- Soil creep

Third, the extent to which the road is affected by weathering 1- The effect of weathering on the road 2- The reality of weathering on the Edfu-Morsi Alam road A- Road structure B- Traffic congestion C- Environmental pollution D- Road services E- Road fencing F- Problems of irrigation and drainage

In the end, the research provides some solutions to the problem of road weathering, such as stabilizing sand dunes and landscaping to protect the road and reduce the effects of weathering.

Emphasizing the importance of roads as a lifeline and the necessity of preserving them and protecting them from deterioration.
