Abstract

The importance of the various decorations on pottery is due to knowing the details of the lives of societies and a manifestation of the progress and extent of artistic taste at that time and the development of art during that period accompanying its. appearance. From the topics of decoration on pottery we can deduce social customs, religious life, deities, the practice of rites and rituals, and knowledge of the surrounding environment with all include the plants, animals, and birds, of which were used as decorative components in the formation of pottery decorations. As well as the quality of the vessels and their use of inscriptions, whether for religious or decorative purposes for decoration and beautification. Decoration also had a significance in knowing history, civilization, culture, and the extent of prosperity and progress of peoples and nations. The surrounding environment had a great influence on the artist, which appeared in pottery decorations through his observation through cohabitation, and its elements were used for decoration as a result For imitation .The artist represented the decorations of animals on his vessels in their expressive forms. and its depiction began sinceThe Second Naqada Civilization with all its developments.
