Abstract

paradox has received many studies in the literary and critical field, and has received the attention of many Western critics, but the Arab efforts remain the leading in this field in theory and application, to reveal its concept, qualities, and forms, and then analyze it in light of the poet's vision of those around him, and portray his reality, in simulation of the principle of contradiction and disharmony.

The paradox is one of the most important rhetorical methods used in Arabic poetry, as it depends on the mental interpretation of the reader, which carries many interpretations that open up to the recipient many technical aspects of the text, which reflect the poet's ability and genius in enriching the text and highlighting the meaning.

The structure of the paradox is based on evasion, that is: saying what the reader does not expect in its near meaning, and then the astonishment resulting from anxiety and hesitation in determining the intended meaning.

The nature of the research required that it come in sequential axes, including: the link of the approach to the harsh conditions of the poet's upbringing and reality, to reveal to us the role of paradox in the contrast of portraying conditions, then the reflection of his qualities in his poetry, to turn into a tool in the depiction of events, then the paradox of presence and absence and the transition of words from context to a contradictory context, and the extent to which the poet was affected by his predecessors.
