Abstract

Solid waste is one of the most important problems that needs attention due to its direct impact on the life of the individual and society in general. Solid waste management in Aswan has remained an urgent necessity, which is why this research comes as an attempt to help the Environmental Affairs Agency, specifically the Waste Management Department, in measuring the extent of application of solid waste treatment methods and providing the necessary recommendations in this field. It presents a method for analyzing current solid waste management services and providing alternative plans for solid waste management services in the future, step by step, so that the final output is a new plan or plans for solid waste management.

Disposing of this waste is a heavy burden due to the enormous quantities left behind by the population, loading sanitation workers with the task of collecting and disposing of it with minimal assistance from the very people who produce it. This is further compounded by the limited financial and technical resources these institutions face in acquiring advanced equipment and securing the necessary workforce to perform the required tasks effectively and choosing the most appropriate method for waste disposal, from its generation to its final elimination.

Solid waste management is a critical service, as solid waste has detrimental effects on the health of humans, animals, plants, and the environment if not handled properly. The city of Aswan suffers from the problem of accumulated solid waste, accompanied by deficiencies in the management of this waste.
