Abstract

This study aimed to identify the extent to which the public is exposed to national projects when browsing news portals, to determine the extent to which news portals contribute to raising awareness about the importance of national projects, and to identify the contribution of news portals in increasing the public's awareness of national projects. This study is a descriptive study that relied on a survey approach to explore the opinions of the study sample with the aim of identifying the public's awareness of national projects. The study relied on a deliberate sample of 411 individuals from the general public, who are users of news portals and followers of national projects. The study data were collected through an electronic questionnaire to capture the largest possible audience.

The results indicated that there is a strong, statistically significant correlation between the intensity of exposure to news portals about national projects and the public's awareness of the importance of national projects. The results also indicated that there is a moderate, statistically significant correlation between the adequacy of information provided by news portals about national projects and the increase in public knowledge about national projects. The results indicated that social housing projects came at the forefront of national projects covered in the news, followed by road and bridge projects in second place, the New Suez Canal project in third place, the renewable energy project in fourth place, water and sanitation projects in fifth place, and finally other projects in sixth place.
