Summary of the Research:

This research is titled "Imam Ismail ibn Ibrahim, known as Ibn Ulayyah, and His Approach to Criticism and Verification." It provides a comprehensive biography of Imam Ismail ibn Ibrahim, also known as Ibn Ulayyah, covering various aspects of his life and scholarly contributions. The research includes detailed information about his name, lineage, title, and nickname, his birth, family, teachers, and students. It also explores the opinions of scholars about him, including those who praised him, those who criticized him, and a study of these statements with an analysis of the truth behind them.

Furthermore, the study delves into his personal qualities, his jurisprudential school of thought, his written works, and his death. It also examines all of his statements regarding the evaluation of narrators (criticism and verification) found in the books of hadith, noting that twelve narrators were praised and thirteen were criticized by him. A thorough study of these narrators is conducted, comparing his judgments with those of other scholars of hadith criticism, both early and late. The research identifies the most accurate opinions among the various assessments.

At the conclusion of this study, the methodology of Ibn Ulayyah in the fields of evaluation (tahdith and jarh) is summarized, and the research ends with a brief conclusion outlining the main findings and recommendations. The study also includes a comprehensive index of sources and references, as well as an index of topics discussed.
